Our Natural Environment
The whole of the Cairngorm National Park could be considered a natural attraction. Listed below are a number of the places that are worth visiting when you are in the area and all of them not far from us here at Pine Ridge B&B Carrbridge.

National Nature Reserves (NNRs)
Abernethy Forest. The largest native Scots pinewood in Britain. A unique mix of woodland bog with birds such as capercaillie, crossbill, crested tit, opsrey, and many rare insects.
Craigellachie. West of Aviemore the forest provides fine trails through birch woods with superb views of the Cairngorm mountains. A polpular place for spring walks.
Creag Meadaigh. This varied reserve stretches from loch side to mountain and includes the ice-carved crags of Coire Ardair and is an excellent place for winter climbing.
Insh Marshes. A very important wetland home to goldeneye, lapwing, redshank, curlew, oystercatcher, snipe, wigeon, swans and geese. Birdwatching hides, nature tails at Loch Insh
Corrieyairack Pass. Built by general Wade this road follows a traditional drove route and popular walk from Fort Augustus to Laggan.
Dulnain Bridge Roche. An excellent example of glacial rocks known as the Roche Mountonees' with great views to the Cairngorms.
Falls of Truim. Just south of Newtonmore at Crbenbeg, these falls under the brifdge are a great spot for salmon watching.
Glen Feshie. This a great glen for walking and wild in its upper part.
Glenmore. One of the last remaining pockets of ancient Caledonian Pine.
Lairig Ghru. This classic steep sided high pass connecting the north and south sides of the Cairngorms provides a popular walk between Aviemore and Braemar.
Loch an Eileen. A popular highland loch with great walks and stunning views. A ruined castle on the islands adds to the atmosphere.
Loch Morlich. Surrounded by the woods of Glenmore Forest this popular spot is ideal for a short stop and offers access to water and shore side activities.
Ryvoan Pass. A narrow pass that connects Glenmore with Abernethy. Well known for its dramatic green loch, Lochan Uaine.
Rothiemurchus. The ancinet woods of Rothiemurchus are a haven and offer many opportunities for a wide range of activities.
